Engagement looks different for individual students; some doodle while listening to directions and others need to focus completely. Students with autism do not always show they are engaged or listening in traditional ways. How have you seen/experienced students with autism engage in their learning? How did you know they were engaged? What did the teacher/you do to ensure they were involved in the learning? If you have not had these experiences, conduct research on some of the key indicators of engagement for students with ASD. Include citations for your research.
