Engineering Project: The Loonie Car Abstract: In this project you are to design, build, test, modify and re-test a home built Gravity Car that will travel 1.5 meters then drop a Loonie at exactly the 1.5 meter mark and continue for a minimum of 1 meter after the loonie drop. Total distance 2.5 meters. The car can do this in one motion or stop drop and continue. That is your choice. Constraints: The maximum dimension for the vehicle is: 40 cm long x 25 cm wide x 40 cm tall. The vehicle must be powered by Gravitational Potential Energy only. The vehicle must be home built. No Kits. Pre-existing frames are allowed. Reporting and Assessment: 1. Log: During your build you must keep a log of activities showing what you have done and a short description why. This is required at major design changes or milestones only. Example: Day 3. Changed wheel thickness to decrease friction with the ground. Day 4. Increased mass to increase potential energy available to system. 2. Engineering Report: You will create an Engineering report describing, with detail, all the principles of Physics contained within your car. You description must include a definition, example and how it is being employed or how it is affecting the performance of your vehicle.
