Esmeralda and Charmolue go to see play, however, as they enter the theater, they noticed that there were no seats available. Esmeralda starts yelling as loudly as she could that there is a fire and waves a machete over her head. To her delight everyone ran out of the theater leaving many empty seats. All this commotion was seen by Quasimodo a professional popcorn seller and an employee of the theater called the police, who arrested Esmeralda. Esmeralda told the police officers that she was only exercising her First Amendment rights. She also told the police that Quasimodo was lying and that she saw Quasimodo was eating popcorn from the machine and was not wearing gloves. Quasimodo, according to Esmeralda was taking money from the cash register. As a result, Quasimodo lost his professional popcorn makers license and was fired from his job in the theater.
