( Essentials of Public Health Research Methods BOX 10.1 on pp. 143-144) summarizes two studies that we quickly selected by looking only at one recent issue of the American Journal of Public Health. Read each study carefully and then consider the following questions.

1. Is the sampling technique for study 1 adequate given the purpose of the study?

2. Is either study relegated to only the individual level (meaning that the intervention is focused on changing knowledge, attitudes, beliefs, and behaviors)?

3. Are the findings for study 1 compelling enough to place healthy food options in other tribally located stores in other states?

4. Are the findings for study 2 compelling enough to engage in similar cleanup practices in other neighborhoods in both nearby and faraway neighborhoods (perhaps in other states)?
