Case: Lorna is an administrative assistant in the human resources department.Her good friend bill,is applying for a job with the company and she has agreed to serve as a reference for him.Bill approaches her for advice on preparing for an interview.Lorna has the actual interview questions asked of all applicants and considers making him a copy of the list so he can adequately prepare

Lorna would display unethical behavior by providing her friend Bill with a copy of the interview questions. This would create an unfair advantage for Bill to prepare for the interview in advance of other potential interviewees.In addition, it would be unethical for Lorna to agree to be a reference on Bill's application as this may be a conflict of interest.Korgen, Korgen, & Giraffe, (2015) states "In an ethical workplace, employers give "priority to employee rights, fair procedures, and equity in pay and promotion, and . . . promote tolerance, compassion, loyalty and honesty in the treatment of customers and employees" (Meinert, 2014, para. 19).
