The food was bigger, the streets and walls did not have mold, the air was fresher and clean, and all in all, the people were friendlier and even strangers were more willing to start conversations on the streets. Overall, he came to the idea that the culture was much nicer than Vietnam because people were more open-minded. Tam did not struggle with adjusting his tastes to the new culture or food; he just learned how to accept whatever was given to him. The new traditions and cultures such as Halloween was not a big shock to him. He felt as if he was learning life all over again.
