Evolutionary psychology claims that almost every behavior has an adaptive function. We talked a lot about (lack of) consciousness, explicitly and implicitly (attention, learning). Is consciousness one of the behaviors that is adaptive, or is it an exception? (Of course, you should argue your position.) In other words: Does consciousness serve a purpose?
