In The Lesson $1$ Written Homework we reviewed an incident in the $2012$ Olympics where there was a misalignment between each team's incentive to increase their chances of winning a medal and the goals of the Olympic Games to promote events where the players compete at the highest level. Students and instructors in college courses can sometimes also experience a misalignment between individual incentives to achieve high grades and the broader learning objectives of college courses. Briefly $($in $1-2$ paragraphs$)$ address the following questions: Do you think students experience this type of misalignment often? infrequently? Based on your experience, what are some effective ways that instructors can promote alignment between course learning objectives and student incentives?
