Explain with economics why development in Bangladesh is happening at a higher cost?

Good afternoon everyone, my name is Rafian Nawar and, in my opinion, development is happening with a heavy cost. Firstly, Dhaka is expanding rapidly in the medical sector, leading to an ever-increasing number of hospitals, clinics, and diagnostic laboratories. But this is also causing certain problems to increase as well. Medical waste that is being produced by these institutes is infectious and hazardous and hence it poses a serious threat to environmental health. There is no national policy on HCW management in Bangladesh, even the existing laws are outdated and impose low penalties, and even sometimes, no penalties for offenders. Secondly, the rapid urbanization of Bangladesh comes with serious disadvantages, for example over crowded housing, overcrowded schools and hospitals, increasing traffic jams, and road accidents. This results in enormous congestion, hence, worsening air and noise pollution and safety issues. And lastly, Bangladesh's nuclear power plant and related construction projects are becoming an issue as well. The pollutants from the power plant will cause deforestation which will contribute significantly to global carbon dioxide emissions, reduce biodiversity, cause flash floods and disrupt the livelihood of millions of people. Deforestation is increasing at an alarming rate already. Trees are being cut indiscriminately on the hillside, and lands are cleared to make a way for settlements and farms. Cutting down trees exposes the soil to intense rains that washes away the soil, filling nearby streams and rivers with sediment. In conclusion, development is necessary for a society to better itself but development should not come with long term costs that will ultimately harm society itself.
