When it came to controlling and monitoring technological projects, from the development of an app to launching a new rocket for NASA - it was always believed that controlling a project should focus on the technical aspect of the project. Recently, a greater focus has been placed on the environments in which a project operates. Research (although in its infancy) is showing that a culture with consistent feedback loops, where the development team feel comfortable speaking up has decreased defects, less change requests, and is easier to control.
