There was only one problem with the Titan, which had an appearance similar to a classic BMW. The Titan got about 7 miles per gallon of fuel. This was a small prob- lem until 1973, when the gas crunch hit, and fuel prices went from 25" a gallon to over a dollar. Orders for new Titans decreased dramatically, and car production at the Cambridge plant fizzled. The leaders at Titan toyed with entering a joint agree- ment with Toyota to make a fuel-efficient smaller cab, but the leaders had known success for too many years with their larger product.
