Read through the following case study and answer the questions that follow: Mrs Rebecca Moloi is the only female working with 40 male traffic offices in the Sibane Municipality. Mr Jeff Hlongwane is the manager of the Traffic Department and Mrs Moloi is his secretary. Her responsibilities include taking care of office management, administration, basic human resources, functions and keeping records. For quite some time Mr Hlongwane has been receiving complaints from his traffic officers about the irresponsible behaviour of Mrs Moloi. She is frequently absent or late in completing her tasks. Mr Hlongwane is also beginning to notice that she is neglecting her tasks and requires a lot of supervision and guidance in completing her duties. In any discussion relating to her performance, Mr Moloi claims the complaints to be part of an 'agenda' among her colleagues to 'cause trouble for her'. She gets upset and starts crying if pushed too far. Invariably her comments in these meetings can be summed up by a combination of accusations and excuses. To address the problem, Mr Holngwane takes her to a nearby cafe and tries to counsel her, but to no avail. He sees no willingness on her part to relate to the seriousness of his concerns. 1.
