1. You are invited for a job interview at Glenmedes Strategic Equity Portfolio Fund in spring 2023. In preparation for your interview, use FactSets Portfolio Analysis tool to find as of the end of March 2023 a. the stock that GTCEX overweights the most relative to the S&P 500 Index (proxied by the SPY)
b. the stock that GTCEX underweights the most relative to the SPY c. the (FactSet) sector that GTCEX overweights the most relative to the SPY d. the (FactSet) sector that GTCEX underweights the most relative to the SPY e. for the quarter ended 3/31/2023, the stock that contributed most to performance b. for the quarter ended 3/31/2023, the stock that detracted most from performance
2. The attached file provides information about the holdings of SPY, an ETF designed to deliver the performance of the S&P 500, the current price per share of each holding, as well as the total number of SPY shares outstanding (you dont need to worry about cash holdings as I have removed them for simplicity). a. Assuming that one SPY creation unit consists of 50,000 ETF shares, figure out the corresponding creation basket of stocks. That is, how many shares of Apple, Microsoft, Amazon, etc. would an Authorized Participant (AP) have to deliver approximately in exchange for 50,000 shares of SPY? b. Suppose that SPY currently trades at $412 per share. Describe in detail what an AP could do to take advantage of this price. What would be the likely effect of the APs actions?
3. Use the FactSet ETF screener to help you find ETF that tracks the S&P 500 index and has the lowest expense ratio. Note: the ETF should trade on a U.S. stock exchange and not employ any leverage (no leveraged ETFs). Hint: as of March 2022, FactSet does not allow you to select an index as a criterion, but you can add the index name as an output column by search for ETF Underlying Index and thus identify S&P 500 index ETFs. 2
4. Pick a stock youre interested in and use FactSets Ownership module to find the stocks five largest shareholders as of the latest reporting date and as of 10 years ago (or whatever date is closest to the IPO if the firm IPOd less than 10 years ago).
