Students must submit an original paper analyzing one of the following federal labor or employment laws:

  1. The Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA) and Americans with Disabilities Amendments Act of 2008 (ADAA);
  2. The Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA);
  3. The Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA);
  4. The Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA)

Student papers should be 8-10 pages, double-spaced, justified, in Times Roman 12-point font, and contain the following:

  1. An overview of the law;
  2. A historical perspective of why the law was enacted;
  3. A summary and analysis of a specific lawsuit (to be found online) that was brought under the act;
  4. An analysis of the law's impact on our current business climate (from the perspective of employers as well as employees); and
  5. A personal perspective as to whether the student believes that law does or does not achieve its intended purposes. If there is a misuse or unintended use of the law, the student should explain and indicate what changes to the law they would recommend.

This paper should follow an academic research paper in APA format.
