find an article, story, legal case file, or similar (within the past 5 years) that is directly related to legal issues in HSEM. This will might take the form of a lawsuit being filed against a public or private sector entity for issues related to their HSEM activities. It might also be a legal action of any kind filed against an HSEM organization. It might also be a new or changed law that impacts HSEM practitioners.
As you analyze your case, refer back to the "Questions using the Elements of Thought" on page 15 of Paul and Elder. You will post:
- A link to the article,
- A synopsis of the issue,
- The reason for the legal action (why the case was filed or the law was created)
- A summary of the legal basis for the action (what laws or rules the plaintiff alleges were broken or violated or why was the law changed)
- Who you think the case will be decided for (the plaintiff or the defendant), based on what you've learned thus far in this course (or can cite from other sources). If the case has already been settled, point out the areas of law it was decided upon as they related to this course. If this is not related to case, state who you believe will benefit from the law change and who might be harmed by it.
