Finding the mean, is organizing your report and dividing by the number of subjects. Finding your median which sounds like (Medium) is dividing the center subjects by equal parts meaning the number 2 because it is 2 subjects that are being divided. Finding the mode is identifying the most common subjects. I am not sure I can explain the standard deviation process as on the podcast video but I can explain that we first have to find the variance. An example I can use is when reviewing accounts. Sometimes our customers want they payment history and of course this is an easy report to run but sometimes customers want to know things such as the average payment they made to the company. To better explain, instead of paying invoice per invoice they would prefer paying statement by statement so they have one lump sum drafted from their bank to make their reconciliation process easier. It also makes it easy if in case they happen to have a new employee they simply call and ask us what their payment history looks like so that they can too follow the trend. I normally use excel spreadsheets to come out with the median
