First, go to page 93 and read the Case Problem (Clear Mountain State Student Surveys)with the UndergradSurveydata set under the first question that was developed using a university student survey. Note, the page number may be different if you're using a different format of the book, but it will be the same Case Problem. Second, download the Excel Document (UndergradSurvey). Third, develop at least one type of display graph for eachthe following variables: gender, age, class, major, grad intention, employment, school spending, and computer. After each graph develop at least one sentence interpreting what the numbers in the chart/graph mean.

NOTE: As a business statistician, you will use your critical thinking skills in deciding on what type(s) of chart or charts to display for each specific variable. However, make sure that the graph type you display is appropriate given the nature of the variable. For instance, I may choose to use a bar chart or pie chart for gender and a self-developed stem-and-leaf display for age. After constructing your graphical displays for each variable, please make sure to create a managerial report summarizing your conclusions. In other words, describe your interpretations of each of the graphs you developed given each of the variables in the survey. For example, if a pie chart shows that the study was comprised of primarily female (80%), then discuss how the survey might have a gender bias in your report.

Notes:

  1. Upon completing the assignment, make sure to submit it via Blackboard's Drop Box by 11:59pm on Wednesday (2/1).
  2. For each variable of the data set make sure to visually display at least one graph or table to enable you to make sense of each variable. Also, make sure to write out at least a one sentence interpretation for each graph/chart/etc. You may lose points if you do not write out your managerial interpretations for each variable.
  3. MyStatLab Advantage (optional) has several video tutorials on how to create and develop different types of charts and graphical displays. You're highly encouraged to view them multiple times to enhance your Excel skills.
