First of all, looking at Yukl's meta-categories, I think the best form of leadership requires having a relationship with the other members of the organization, so I am focusing on relations-oriented behaviors (Yukl, 2012). When you compare empowerment with Yukl's other relations-oriented behaviors (that is, supporting, developing, and recognizing), I feel that empowerment combines the other three behaviors into one: in order to empower someone, it is necessary to support, develop and recognize them. Similarly, I feel that in order to empower someone, it is necessary to combine all the task-oriented and change-oriented behaviors. A good leader will surround themself with not only competent, loyal workers, but also people who will be willing to improve or expand their own skills and vision - which encompasses both task-oriented and change-oriented behaviors (Sankar, 2017). In summary, leadership requires a great number of behaviors, which include focusing on tasks and change, but also cultivating relationships which are internal and external to the organization. Internally, the best leader will empower his subordinates. As far as external relationships go, a leader will have no standing externally if he does not have the internal behaviors up and running
