The Principles help us interact with others in a more respectful, empathetic, and thoughtful manner. It is natural for a person to "fill in the blanks," so to speak, when dealing with others. After all, we often do not know another person's intentions, so we tend to project our own attitudes and feelings on other people. This is known as attribution error. This happens all the time and it does not mean you are a bad person. As an example, think about when someone cuts you off in traffic. What are your feelings? What are your assumptions about the other driver? Did you think they were incompetent, a jerk, careless, or all of the above? Either of those assumptions could be true, or they could all be false. Applying the Principles in our lives gives us a chance to pause, check our assumptions, and turn to wonder when we do not understand the actions or attitudes of others. Consequently, by taking a second to reflect, we can filter out or better manage or biases in order to react in more respectful and empathetic manner. If you can accomplish this, you will be able to deal more effectively with conflict.

Based on what you learned from the reading assignments in this module and interactions with your classmates, identify a Principle that most resonated with you during this module. Explain your reason for selecting the Principle and then describe how it helped you better understand the subject matter or relate to one of your classmates. Your journal entry will be private and I will be the only person reading your entry.
