Fisher Case Research Exercise

In the following Supreme Court case the court heard oral arguments for and against the use of affirmative action practices in university admissions procedures.

1 Listen to the oral arguments before the United States Supreme Court (using the link provided) and identify the arguments for and against the use of affirmative action in University admissions practices in a recent case: The decision, Fisher V. University of Texas.

2 Compare and contrast the arguments of all parties to the action.

3 Based upon questions from the court, identify whether the court appears to be leaning toward a particular outcome in the case, paying attention to any questions posted by justice Kennedy during the oral argument.

4 After articulating the arguments in the Fisher Case compare arguments to the arguments made in the court decisions you have already read and discussed in LP 2.
