Following the functional behavioral assessment, the teacher, school psychologist, and/or behavior specialist will make a behavior intervention plan (BIP) based on the behaviors identified in the FBA. A BIP lists target behaviors identified for change during the FBA. Target behaviors are behaviors that have been identified as something that needs to change that you will be reinforcing and collecting data on. Target behaviors should be phrased in a positive manner to make it easier to communicate expectations with the student as well as to collect data. The BIP also describes the function of the behavior and identifies intervention strategies that include positive behavioral supports.

Based on the functional behavioral assessment completed in Clinical Field Experience B in Topic 3. Answer the following in the behavior intervention plan:

  • three target behaviors/goals
  • Antecedent and function of the behavior
  • Proactive strategies for preventing each of the undesired behaviors
  • Intervention strategies for each goal, such as replacing/redirecting the behaviors, and/or natural consequences of the behaviors, that will support positive behavior
  • Person responsible for implementing the prevention, intervention, and/or instruction
  • Developmentally appropriate motivation strategies to reinforce the target behaviors
  • Notes: Any other important notes about the behaviors, goals, or intervention strategies

Make a reflection explaining why you selected the target behaviors/goals and how the selected strategies will support the target behaviors/goals. How would you collaborate with families in a way that aligns with a Christian world view when creating the BIP and to ensure the goals are being supported at home as well as at school?
