Following the success of a computer game based upon a scenario set$-$in the frozen north, a certain

computer software development company was commissioned by the client company to develop a

second game. This time the client $-$ a multimedia global firm $$ wanted increase stock value, and

the inclusion of the explicit death of young children. An added incentive towards this was that if

the computer company agreed to it$,$ there would be a more immediate release of monies

outstanding from the first game. The manager of the software firm and his engineering staff were

uneasy about this request $$ although initially a little unsure why they felt such unease. They sensed

that there might be wider issues about how such games affect players and about how their firm

might be perceived.
