For a drilling operation, the following data are collected Drilling Pipe: The inner (Di) and outer diameter (Do) of the pipe is 200mm and 250mm Diameter of the hole is 1500mm Maximum cutting size is expected to be 1.5mm The pump that is used to circulate the mud is capable to supply a maximum flow rate of 120000L/min a) (3 marks) Calculate the maximum fluid velocity that can be provided by the pump assuming the pump is running at its maximum capacity b) ( 3 marks) There are 2 drilling muds that are available for the operation. The varlation of minimum fluld transportation velocity and cutting size of the muds Is given below. Compare the viscosity of mud in relation to its function to transport the cutting upwards and determine which one you choose in this case and explain why. Note: Be careful with your units. Make sure they are consistent (1m3=1000L)
