For Assignment #1, you will write a memo proposal describing in detail a service learning project that you want your project team to approve as its service learning project. The tone of your proposal should be persuasive, and your proposal should address the evaluation criteria that appear on the evaluation checklist that goes with this assignment. As you brainstorm for a suitable service learning project, remember to read again the Service Learning Project Description document.

Your proposal should be 2-4 pages long (single space) and should be in memo format. It should also contain the following parts:

Introductory Summary

Description of the Service Learning Project

Conclusion/recommendation

Note: Assignment #1 is your first written assignment for your Service Learning Project. If you are not already part of a project team, the purpose of your memo proposal will be to persuade others in the class to use your service learning idea as the team project. If you are already on a project team, the purpose of your memo proposal will be to persuade your team that your project is the best one to use.

In all cases, you submit your memo proposal in the Assignment Link so that it can be graded. You will also post your memo proposal as a discussion item.

Use the checklist noted in this assignment as a guideline when you plan and then write your own proposal. You will use the checklist again when you evaluate the memo proposals of other class members or other members of your project team.

The service learning project in this case is on how to improve the performance of students at an information training instititute and come up with ways of best conveying the knowledge to the trainees.
