For context, I am working of excel, doing financial analysis. (textbook question)
I need to calculate the GEOMEAN for the % change in dividends paid, which isn't difficult, however I am confused. So we are given the dividends, which is paid semi-annually in the first year, annually in the second year, semi-annually again in the third and fourth year, then annually in the fifth year. we are asked to calculate the compound quarterly growth rate of the dividends using the GEOMEAN function on EXCEL, which is also fine, understand how to use the function.
My question is, how should get the compound quarterly growth rate, do I annualise everything to get the quarterly change? it just doesn't make sense that way.
