  1. Jim has been a paper salesman for Dunder Mifflin over 10 years. His position is terminated due to corporate restructuring. As a result, he is given 6-months' severance (pay in lieu of notice) as per the terms of his Employment Agreement.
  2. Pam has been working as a receptionist for Dunder Mifflin for 5 years. Recently, she has been performing poorly at her position and consistently showing up late to work. After three warnings, she is terminated with cause and is not given any notice or payment in lieu of notice.
  3. Dwight has worked at Dunder Mifflin for over 15 years. He began as a salesman and then worked his way up to Assistant to the Regional Manager. He is struggling in his new role because he has received limited training and coaching. Without warning or coaching, Dwight is terminated and is given the statutory minimum of 2-weeks' notice.
  4. Kevin has worked in accounting for Dunder Mifflin for 7 years. He has always enjoyed coming to work because of the positive work environment. However, over the past few months, the work environment has become increasingly negative and he has found himself as the victim of bullying and harassment. Also, Dunder Mifflin decide that they have too many accountants and they demote him to janitor without warning. Upset, Kevin quits and files a lawsuit against Dunder Mifflin seeking severance pay.
  5. Meredith has worked as a salesman for Dunder Mifflin for almost 20 years. As part of corporate restructuring, she is also terminated with Jim. Her employment agreement does not state a notice period. She is given the same 6-months' notice period as Jim. 9 months after her dismissal, she finds new employment as a salesman for another company making a similar salary.
