For my career I had wanted to be a lawyer, however due to being a reckless teenager I caught I felony and am no longer eligible to take the bar exam in Texas. So I decided to pursue being a paralegal/ legal assistant. My mom has been a legal assistant for going on 30 years and when she told me about what she does I decided that was the path I wanted to follow. As a paralegal, I'll conduct legal research, prepare legal documents, or investigate legal precedent to provide assistance to lawyers as well as research to formulate a defense, to initiate legal proceedings, or to support a legal proceeding.
There are many skills I can learn in this class that I can apply to my career. Especially critical thinking, this class definitely works on this skill in being able to use your brain and using inductive and deductive reasoning to come to a conclusion. Also the skill of being able to read and understand what is written. The homework definitely put this skill to the test and will further strengthen this skill.
