(a) State which sampling method (simple random sampling, systematic sampling, stratified random sampling, cluster sampling) is used in each of the following cases:
(i) In a district, there are 100 schools. The Education Bureau would choose 8 schools randomly and conduct a survey with every teacher in the selected school about their experiences on using Information Technology in teaching. (2 marks)
(ii) There are 24 rows of seats in house 1 of a cinema. A hygiene inspector would check all seats in every 4 th row to see whether the hygiene is up to standard. (2 marks)
(b) State which test (z-test, t-test, ANOVA, 2 test) is most suitable for each of the following cases:
(i) An education researcher wants to compare the teaching effectiveness of four different teaching methods. Final year students are randomly assigned to one of the four groups. The marks obtained by the students in the final examination would be used for the test. (2 marks)
(ii) A cereal manufacturer would take a sample of boxes of cereal from the production line to test whether the population mean weight is less than 500 grams. (2 marks)
