1. discuss the diversity (or lack of diversity) of the main characters and how they are portrayed in the film. Is there awoman, person with a disability, LGBTQ character, BIPOC, etc. as a key figure or hero in the film? Are they portrayed in a stereotypical or static way or in a meaningful and dynamic way?

2. Research the diversity, background, and past work of the main actors and the director(s). Research the source of the movie. Is it based on a book or comic book? If so, who wrote it, and what is their background? What are the race, gender, sexual orientation, etc. of the characters in the source material? Has anything changed when it was made into a movie?

3. Most films traditionally have white cisgender males in the lead or as key characters due to the historical and systemic sexism and racism of our society. Choosing a mainstream movie is perfectly fine, as the key is for you to critique the film. You can also choose a movie that has a key character that represents diversity. You can love or hate the movie you pick, just make sure to back up your points with evidence from the film.
