For this extra credit Journal Entry assignment, I want you to revisit your earlier journal entries. In Journal Entry #1 you were asked to explore the question "Who Am I?" in reference to the meaning that race has played in your life. Journal Entry #2 focused on your "Family Album" in exploring "Who Am I?" & "Whose Am I?" in relationship to your family history as "immigrants." Journal Entry #3 asked you to expand on the notion of "Whose Am I" relative to ethnicity, culture and community. Journal Entry #4 asked you to reflect upon all that you had learned in the course up until early November and reflect on the question of "Who Am I? in relation to "What is my relationship to the world around me?". As with Journal Entry #4 I would like you to re-read your journal entries and any notes or feedback I provided. In addressing this final journal entry, I would like you to reflect upon the class content (lectures, readings, videos & discussion) and the relationships you have made with your peers in the class. Rather than focus so much on "what your learned" in terms of class content, I would like you to focus on "what you felt" in the process of that learning and what that learning has taught you about yourself. That is to say, this journal essay is really about your emotions and self-discovery through the learning about self through a re-examination of yourself as you learned about others. In framing your entry in context of the course, I want you incorporate some component of the course content by choosing a particular reading, lecture, video, group research presentation or discussion to anchor your reflection of self. In referencing the course content, you are required to be specific in your use of content (e.g. theory, concept, event, video, etc.), illustrations or other examples.
