Your organization has 600+ people in it. You have a list of items to address within the organization and some questions from the business line that you support, the Advertising Al team. Considering all you know regarding people management, federal law, and business needs, explain how you would handle the scenarios listed below. 1) A manager within your organization, Guy, requested a meeting with you on Tuesday. Unfortunately, Guy believes that his employee, Shahem, is not performing well as a Software Development Engineer. What questions would you ask Guy to better understand the performance gaps he is allegedly witnessing? a) After you learn more from Guy, you determine that Shahem, a 51 year old male, should be on a performance management plan. Assuming your tech company follows a standard performance management program, how would you coach Guy on next steps? What factors would you want to ensure Guy is aware of? What piece of this process would you own as the SR HRBP? Is there a legal concern that you and Guy should be aware of? 2) An employee within your organization, Li, reached out to you because she had "concerns." During your meeting with Li, Li shares that she is struggling with depression and that she struggles with focusing on her work and completing her assignments on time because of her mental health disability. You know from a meeting with her manager, Sara, that Li has been struggling with performance and that Sara had intended to provide Li with a Written Warning next week as the performance concerns began months ago. What do you do? Please provide your answer in chronological order. a) Is there a law you should be aware of? Should you pause performance management? Is there a resource you can give to help Li? What are you going to tell Sara? 3) The VP of the business line you support, Jay, meets with you to share that his direct report, Elizabeth, the only female that reports to him, struggles with leading her team. He wants to know how he can coach Elizabeth in an uplifting manner because he is worried she would not handle negative feedback well. a) What questions would you ask Jay? Are there any legal factors to be aware of? How do you ensure Jay does not have gender bias? How would you suggest Jay address Elizabeth (email, face to face, etc)? M 381 Final Project 4) You have a new peer on the Talent Acquisition team, Anthony. Jay, the VP of the business line you support, met with Anthony without you and told Anthony that he wanted to hire someone in Sweden for his engineering team. Your tech company does not employ anyone in Sweden yet. Jay told Anthony that he needed to get the offer letter out ASAP. You hear about this offer in passing and ask Anthony if you could review it. In the offer letter, you notice the following: 1) the compensation information is in USD, 2) the employee manual is the English/ US version, 3) the compensation package far outpaces that of the rest of Jay's engineers, 4) the office schedule and location of employment is not clear. a) Why are each of these errors problematic? Any legal concerns? Any bias concerns? b) What are you going to do now that you have seen this offer letter? Provide your answer in chronological order
