Background knowledge: As a Haitian/Black individual, my connection to the rich cultural heritage of Haiti and the history of the Black community has profoundly influenced my perspective on cultural diversity. For example, hearing my grandparents' accounts of the struggles they faced during political upheavals in Haiti has instilled in me a deep sense of resilience and solidarity with marginalized groups. I can also say that witnessing the cultural celebrations and vibrant art forms within the Haitian community has emphasized the significance of cultural preservation alongside embracing diversity.
