Date Name Reflection of Light Assignment Instructions: Answer the following questions below. Answers should show all calculations, and/or labelled diagrams for each question. All answers should be in full sentences. Use the magnification and distance equations you learned in the activity to solve some of the questions. Using ho,hi, di, do Questions: 1. Consider the following object in front of a plane mirror, Construct a ray diagram to show how light travels from the object (arrow) to the mirror and ultimately to the eye; then indicate the portion of the mirror needed in order for the eye to view the image - eye -object 2. A light ray strikes a plane mirror at an angle of Incidence is 35 degrees. What would be the angle of reflection and explain your reasoning? 3. Construct ray diagrams to show where the Images of the following objects are located. Draw in the complete image and describe its characteristics (real or virtual, enlarged or reduced in size, inverted or upright). (NOTE: review the ray diagrams for all possible objects locations for each device.) 3a) Object between C and F 3b) Object beyond C 3c) Object between F and the mirror. 4. A concave mirror with a focal length of 10.0 cm creates a real image 30.0 cm away on its principal axis; the corresponding object is located how far from the mirror? 5. Determine the height of the object. If the height of the image is 12.5 cm and is upright, with a distance of the image being 20 cm from the focal point and the distance of the object is 25 cm from the focal point. 6. A 10.0 cm tall object produces a 20.0 cm tall real image when placed in front of a curved mirror with a focal length of 25.0 cm. The distance of the object is 60 cm from the focal point. Determine the place that the object must be located to produce this image. 7. An object is placed 30 cm from a mirror of focal length 15 cm. The object is 7.5 cm tall. Where is the image located? How tall is the image? 8. A 4.00-cm tall light bulb is placed a distance of 40 cm from a concave mirror having a focal length of 18 cm. Determine the image distance and the image size. (Hint: first determine the d, and then use it to determine the hi.)
