Example Problem/Formula:

FORMULATE 5 TONS of a 6-3-10-2 FERTILIZER - using 16-20-0-15, 0-44-0, 34-0-0 and 0-0-60

10,000 X 0.06 = 600 lbs N

10,000 X 0.03 = 300 lbs P2O5

10,000 X 0.10 = 1,000 lbs K2O

10,000 X 0.02 = 200 lbs S

FOR S use 16-20-0-15: 200/.15 = 1,333 lbs 16-20-0-15. But there is 16% N and 20% P205in 16-20-0-15

N= 1,333 X .16 = 213 lbs N; P2O5 = 1,333 X .20 = 267 lbs P2O5;

FOR K use KCl; 1,000/.60 = 1,667 lbs KCl

FOR N; Need 600 lbs, but we already have 213 lbs from 16-20-0-15, so need 387 more lbs.

387/.34 = 1,138 lbs 34-0-0

FOR P2O5 Need 300 lbs, but we already have 267 lbs from 16-20-0-15, so need 33 more pounds.
