Four frogs start on the north and four toads start on the south. There is always one empty lily pad somewhere. Initially, it is in the middle.

Your job is to move all the toads to spots initially occupied by frogs, and vice versa, leaving the center lily pad empty.

Only one creature can occupy a lily pad at one time.

A creature can hop to the closest lily pad or jump over another creature to the secondclosest lily pad. Hops and jumps can be forward or backward.

Find an algorithm that makes the creatures trade places without drowning or squashing each other.
