Frank Frittmeyer opened Frank's Fritz a diner specializing in the Belgian style of double fried french fries in Dallas Texas in 1932. Frank's french fries became immensely popular throughout the region. Everyone knew about Frank's french fries and people will drive four hours just to taste french fries. French fries became so popular that he eventually expanding his business to include a product line of sales of Frank's frozen french fries which he sold through local grocery stores. Frank also developed a variety of special dipping sauces for his french fries to be sold through local grocery stores. Sales of Frank's frozen french fries were very strong in Dallas and throughout the surrounding Texas region, but Frank's flavored dipping sauce had very weak sales. Frank's son, Fritz, suggested to his dad that he would sell more of the flavored dipping sauce as if he's sold dipping sauce to the grocery stores as a package deal with the frozen french fries.
