From a client:
I have a tax question tax question to ask you
I started a computer consulting company and I am going to file for a LLC and get my business license in horry county.
It looks like I have to tell on how much money I am going to make and pay taxes even before I can make any money. Does that sounds right ?
Now I have been contracted by the charter school in Charlotte NC where my wife works to handle their IT needs. I do that all remotely from home where my business is.
I called Charlotte business office and they told me I did not need a license in charlotte as I have been contracted.
Now I assume I will pay taxes in SC but at the end of the year, the school is going to send me a tax form with taxes to pay in NC. I assume I have to file a NC and SC taxes but do I have to pay taxes in both NC and SC ?
And:
Is the school is going to send me a tax paper at the end of the year about NC taxes and I should just use that to fill my SC tax ? I am confused about SC tax. It looks like I have to pay them before I earn an income. What about if I pay more taxes than I made ?
Now, my wife works for the school in NC. She is on the payroll and she gets NC taxes taken off. But she also works remotely from home in SC.
How would that work when it is time to fill out our taxes ?
