From the below three tips for active listening. Try to recall a real-life situation in which poor listening caused a problem. This situation might have happened to you or you might have observed it. Describe how following the active listening tip would have helped prevent the problem.
1. Stop talking. Unfortunately, most of us prefer talking to listening. Even when we are not talking, we are inclined to concentrate on what to say next rather than on listening to others. So you must stop talking before you can listen
2. Put the talker at ease. If you make the talker feel at ease, he or she will do a better job of talking. Then you will have better input to work with.
3. Show the talker you want to listen. If you can convince the talker to understand rather than O oppose, you will help create a climate for information exchange. You should look and act interested. Reading, looking at the clock, sneaking a look at phone messages, and looking away distract the talker.
