Gabriel is a twenty-six-year-old Hungarian jockey. He is been racing horses professionally for seven years. He started in relatively small county races and has worked his way up into the National circuit. Gabriel's goal is to ultimately race a horse in the Kentucky Derby. He is very good at networking and connecting with horse owners. This is how he has been able to move his way up in the rankings.

As with most jockeys, Gabriel is rather fixated on keeping his weight down for races. In his mind, an eighth of a pound can make the difference in winning or losing. During the off-season, he tends to eat more lavishly. However, there are times after eating a bag of potato chips, a carton of ice cream, and a whole pizza that he feels tremendous guilt. Sometimes he even purges due to this guilt. A few weeks before the season starts Gabriel will begin his ritual of slimming down. He counts every calorie and begins purging his body by taking laxatives and other dietary supplements. Shortly before a race weight in he will also engage in other means to reduce weight. In his mind, there is nothing too drastic.

To meet his goal of racing in the Kentucky Derby, Gabriel has sought out a mental skills coach to help him gain the mental edge. You have worked with Gabriel for the past three months, two of which have been part of his season. Gabriel was initially quite focused, easy to engage, and enthusiastic about learning performance enhancement techniques. As the weeks have gone by you have noticed that he struggles to maintain focus. He is easily distracted, complains of headaches, and seems to be more irritable.

Following his last race, Gabriel became quite irate because he placed third. This is the first time you have witnessed Gabriel lose control of his emotions. When Gabriel came to his next session the only thing he could talk about was how he should have eaten less. He believes his failure is directly connected to drinking too much water and having a carrot for breakfast. He tells you he has decided to take an herbal supplement that will help him reduce his weight even more. He thinks he may need to stop his sessions with you to pay for the herbal supplement. He also shares with you that he must lose some weight or he will not be able to make his family proud.
