Giotto was thought to be the most academic and refined painter of emotion and naturalism in the 14th century. In looking at his paintings of the Arena Chapel, analyze and briefly mention what is wrong with his work in its proportion, scale, spatial relationships, depth, etc. What problems aesthetically was he and other artists still trying to resolve in making convincing natural images on a flat space?
