Based on the panel members' recommendations, the review performed by the Executive Committee of the CIC, and the United Way Board of Directors, your grant award for the Teen Court program for 2016-2017 funding cycle is $46,000.00 This letter also offers an opportunity for us to share community feedback from the review panel members concerning your internal operations, board participation, and the programs that you provide and outcome measurement. The panel applauds Teen Court on its data collection work, the documentation of need, and the accomplishment of outcomes. The panel was very impressed with the support that Teen Court which was illustrated by the Board member participation as well as Judge Tayloe's presence at the visit. Panel Recommendations: The panel recommends the assignment of an intern from Cameron University to assist with grant writing and fundraising. The panel would like to see increased fundraising done to support Teen Court. The panel suggests that the Teen Court engage in direct fundraising efforts with the parents of Teen Court volunteers, by emphasizing the valuable resume building and public speaking opportunities the volunteers gain through their participation in the program. The panel noted that the agency needs to continue to seek out ways to engage parents of defendants. The panel recommends that Teen Court collaborate with Marie Detty to identify incentives for parents who participate in educational programs.
