Give a response to this discussion:

One way we apply qualitative methods in the evaluation of clinical outcomes is by looking at our case notes of our interactions with students. We examine notes over a period of time on any perceived changes in the student's progress or circumstances. Additionally, we use teacher feedback to evaluate if a student has made effective progress towards a specific goal. If a student is struggling to regulate their emotions, we may ask teachers if they are seeing this behavior in class or if they've noticed any changes after an intervention has been in place. Unfortunately, we don't use a lot of quantitative outcomes in evaluating clinical outcomes. We do look at data such as the number of behavioral infractions, attendance rates, grades, etc. We usually look at this data pre and post intervention to determine if there has been substantial progress made. This is sometimes challenging though as oftentimes our students will have great grades, attendance, and no behavioral infractions, but still verbalize that they are struggling. In these instances, we typically refer them to an outside therapist since there is no educational impact.
