Give the following correlations equations for the calculation of film coefficient of heat transfer for turbulent flow inside tubes. i) Dittus Bolter equation. ii) Colburn equation. iii) Sieder Tate equation. Water is flowing through a tube having 25mm outside diameter \& 1.5mm wall thickness at a velocity 2.0m/sec. The wall temperature is 82C. Water enters at 21C \& leaves at 54C. Properties of water at average temperature =1000kg/m3;CP=4180J/kgC, =0.685103NS/m2;w=0.345103NS/m2;k=0.63w/m0C Calculate the heat transfer coefficient by Dittus - Boelter equation, Sider - Tate equation and Colburn equation. By using dimensional analysis show that Nusselt number is a function of Reynolds no. and Prandtl no. for forced convection and is a function of Grash off No. and Prandtle No. for natural convection. Discuss the physical significance of these equations. Derive an expression for average film coefficient of heat transfer for condensation on vertical plate. What is condensation ? Discuss about dropwise and filmwise condensation. By using dimensional analysis derive the relationships for the heat transfer coefficient h for forced convection
