Given: A light source generates unpolarized monochromatic light at wavelength 633 nm. The axis of the first polarizer (also called a transmission axis, TA) is parallel to the x axis (i. e., normal to the page). TA of the second polarizer is parallel to the y-axis. The light beam propagates along the z-axis. A Pockels cell is made of a 2-mm long KDP crystal, which natural optic axis is parallel to the direction of incident light beam. In the presence of DC electric field parallel to the optic axis, slow (x') and fast (y') axes are induced normal to the z-axis with 45 degree angle relative to the original x and y axes. Refractive-index value along the slow axis is: = 1 2 63 3 and along the fast axis is: = 1 2 63 3 Natural ordinary and extraordinary values of refractive index of KDP are = 1.51 and = 1.47 respectively. Electro-optic coefficient is 63 = 10.6 /. Assuming intensity of incident light is 0 in front of the first polarizer, derive a relation between intensity of output beam DC voltage U of the Pockels cell. Use the Jones Matrix method
