Given increasing concerns about worker exploitation in the manufacturing of scarves, Val is considering adding a label that provides a guarantee that workers who manufacture the scarves are paid a fair wage. However, doing so will add to the cost of production so she wants to determine whether it will be effective.

One group of potential customers is shown a scarf containing the label and a separate group is shown a scarf that does not contain the label. Both groups are then required to rate their attitudes towards the scarf on a 7-point scale (1=extremely unfavourable to 7= extremely favourable). The results of the t-test analysis are shown below:
