• Given what you have learned in the course about the dispensing process and the technician’s role and duties in this process, discuss the impact that pharmacy technicians can have on the patient experience and safety when it comes to the dispensing process. Provide at least 5 examples in your response. Be sure to discuss how each provided example relates to patient experience or patient safety or both. For example, pharmacy technicians are often the first person to greet the patient at the pharmacy counter when the patient is dropping off their prescription. Therefore, the technician is responsible for the first impression of the pharmacy. If the pharmacy technician greets the patient in a warm friendly manner, the patient is more likely to feel properly welcomed and will want to return to the pharmacy again in the future. If the technician is rude or distracted when dealing with the patient, the patient may not only decide to NOT use the pharmacy’s services in the future, but they may also be less likely to ask any questions they may have about their medications which could impact their safety or make their medications less effective.
