However, the firm's target capital structure is 50% debt and 50% common equity. The firm has a marginal tax rate of 40%. Gizmo Inc. is considering the purchase of a new machine for 500,000 . It will be depreciated using the MACRS 3-year class life [33%,45%,15% and 7%] and can be used for four years at which time it will have a market value of $100,000. Purchase of the new machine will cause an increase in net operating working capital by $50,000.
