Go to Google Maps and look at the west end of the runway at LAX airport, which is one of the most prominent and busy airports in the world.

If you look closely between the airport's south boundary and the highway that runs along the ocean, which is probably some of the most expensive real estate in the world, you will see a narrow area void of any buildings or normal landscaping. All of this is fenced off, and there are streets that lead to empty lots.

What happened to this once tranquil neighborhood that had been here years before the airport existed? Read page 307 - 309 in your textbook.

Was this "fair" to the once happy homeowners with beachfront property? Weren't they there first? Is this another case of "Big Brother" using imminent domain for prevailing over the rights of the people, in this case with bulldozers? How would you take all of this if you were one of the homeowners? Please cite all sources.
