Go to the Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS) httpszllwwwcdcgov/brfss/index.html (BRFSS data is based on 400,000 individuals in the US interviewed via phone each year) Choose "Prevalence Data and Data Analysis Tools\" Choose "Prevalence and Trends Data" From the "Class" drop down menu, choose a variable that you are interested in. You can further specify what variable you are interested in by choosing from the "Topic" menu after you have selected a class. On the left hand side, you can choose to look at all of US or limit by state. Click "GO\" You should see a map illustrating the prevalence of the risk factor you selected. Note that you might be able to select different years, view by age I gender and look at crude and age-adjusted rates. Take a screen shot of the map (for example using your phone). Next, compare the results to another state or look at different years or age groups or genders. Take another screen shot of the new map. Discuss what you found. Generate a hypothesis based on what you found (eg try to come up with an explanation for the differences that you found, for example if there is a difference for men vs women, what do you think could be the reason for this difference?)
