Mission and Vision Statements are usually quite concise and, by extension, tend to reflect the broad beliefs of the company (for example, Energizer Canada's Mission Statement was "Energizer First: People, Products, Service"). However, notice that while Toyota does have a concise overall global vision, they have provided a visual detailing their global vision in the form of a tree (scroll down toward the bottom of the website page to see the "tree"). The motif of the tree is also part and parcel of this extended vision "statement". 1. What do you think of this approach to a vision statement? What are the potential benefits AND pitfalls of this approach. 2. Given the need for alignment from the Mission and Vision Statements through to strategic execution (i.e. tactics like "Leading the way".
